The Department of Revenue and Taxation has established an Internet Home Page. The web site includes current press releases, frequently asked questions (FAQs), and recent copies of Tax Topics Newsletters. Unclaimed property: The Department's web site includes an unclaimed property page that assists taxpayers in searching for unclaimed assets that have been turned over Louisiana (and other states) by companies that were unable to locate the rightful owners. BBS: The Department of Revenue and Taxation also maintains an electronic bulletin board (BBS) at (504) 922-2529. Tax Forms: Current tax forms may be downloaded from the Department's web site. Forms may also be picked up at the Department's main office or any regional office. Taxpayers may also order tax forms by calling (504) 925-7532. The Department of Revenue and Taxation also offers Fax Link, a fax-on-demand system that makes it easy to obtain various forms, publications, and other documents from the Department. Fax Link is an automatic system that allows someone using a touch-tone telephone to place an order for a form or publication and have it sent automatically to the callers fax machine. A caller is led through the system step by step where he can order a list of available documents and their identification numbers. The system asks the caller to punch in the fax number where the document is to be sent and the identification number of the document being requested. When the caller hangs up, the system sends the requested document to the designated fax machine within a matter of minutes. The number to access Fax Link is (504) 922-2984. Refunds: To check on the status of a refund, call 1-888-829-3071. If calling from Baton Rouge, call 922-3270. These numbers are available 24 hours a day. LegislationThe Louisiana House of Representative and State Senate have both established Internet home pages. The Senate site allows visitors to access the status of Senate Bills and Resolutions by number or by author. Similarly, the House web site allows visitors to search house bills and resolution by number or author. Legislative Bill Information Line: The Louisiana Legislative Bill Information Line is a twenty-four hour audio service provided by the Senate, enabling individuals to obtain the status of a bill, the number of a bill, and assistance in obtaining a copy of a bill and/or committee agendas. The status of a bill is an automated service; the other services allow the caller to connect to the appropriate staff phone line that can meet their request during working hours. The number of the line is: (504) 342-0769 or 1-800-868-3178. LAscribe: The Louisiana Senate offers dial-up access via computer modem to Senate and House bill status information. System includes full bill text and state statutes. The cost of the service varies according to the type of package ordered. Other sources for legislative bills and related material are listed below:
