The Comptroller's web site
includes general information about Maryland state taxes,
answers to frequently asked questions about the state's personal and
business income taxes, plus electronic versions of the
State's Tax Filing Handbook and the Comptroller's ReveNews newsletter, and a description of the
state's taxpayer bill of rights.
Administrative
documents: The Comptroller's web site includes a
special section devoted to tax professionals, which includes the text of administrative releases, bulletins, tax tips, and announcements.
Forms: 1997 and 1996 tax forms are available from the
Comptroller's web site.
Taxpayers may order tax
forms by calling 410-974-3951.
Tax forms are also
available from the Comptroller's Forms-by-Fax system. To
access the system, call 410-974-FAXX (974-3299)
from the handset of a fax machine. If you don’t have
a fax machine with a handset, you may call from a touch
tone telephone, and the requested documents will be sent
to your fax machine as soon as possible.
Unclaimed refunds: The
Comptroller's web site includes a searchable database of unclaimed refunds. Taxpayers may also call the
Unclaimed Property Section at 410-767-1700
(Baltimore Area) or 1-800-782-7383
(Nation-wide)
Tax refunds: Taxpayers
may request the status of a tax refund by calling 410-974-3701
in Central Maryland or 1-800-218-8160
from elsewhere. Taxpayers should have a copy of their tax
return ready to verify information.
Request for extension
to file return: The Comptroller's web site includes
an online extension request form. Separate forms exist for
taxpayers filing as a single individual, those filing a filing a joint return, and taxpayers filing multiple requests. The online request forms may only
be filed by persons who do not owe any
additional tax.
Legislation
The Maryland General Assembly's web site includes bill information and status (including a Senate and House synopsis of recently introduced bills),
Indexes of bill indexes by subject list and statute.
Subscription service: The
Assembly also provides a subscription service for
expedited information. Subscribers receive current
information, i.e.,

Judicial
Information
Maryland Court of Special Appeals decisions from 1992 through the
present are available from the Internet. Maryland Court of Appeals decisions are also online.
Although the Maryland Tax Court has created a Home Page, Tax Court
decisions are not currently available
from the Internet.
