The
Minnesota Department of Revenue has established an internet web
site that includes news releases, tax fact sheets (general descriptions of various
state taxes and credits), access to state sales tax,
income tax and property tax newsletters and reports from the tax research division. The site
also provides access to North Central TaxLine, an IRS newsletter for
tax practitioners in Minnesota, North Dakota and South
Dakota.
Tax Forms: The
following tax forms may be downloaded from the
Department's web site:

available 24 hours per day.

Electronic filing:
Minnesota allows taxpayers to file returns electronically. At present, the only way to
electronically file is to visit an authorized filing site
(it is not possible to file directly from a home
computer). To find the nearest authorized site, call (612)

that wish to determine whether they can also file
elctronically should call (612) 296-1927
or (800) 657-3696.
Interest rates and
penalties: The Department web site provides a
summary of interest rates and penalties for individuals who are not able
to pay their taxes by the April 15 deadline. Businesses interest rates and penalties are also
provided.
Revenue Notices: Revenue notices, which are official policy
statements that interpret Minnesota tax laws, are
available from the Department's web site.

Legislation
The Minnesota State Legislature has established an Internet
presence, with both the House of Representatives and the State Senate having created their own web sites.
Additional information may
be found in the Legislative Reference Library.
Judicial Information
The Minnesota State Court System has established a web site that
includes opinions from both the State Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals.
Note:
Minnesota Court of Appeals Opinions are issued weekly and
are available to the media and public at 1:00 p.m.
CST/CDT every Tuesday. Minnesota Supreme Court
Opinions are issued weekly and are available to the media
and public at 1:00 p.m. CST/CDT every Thursday.
The opinions and syllabus can be downloaded as a weekly
set in a self-extracting compressed file in WordPerfect
document or Rich Text Format file formats or a zipped
Rich Text Format file. In addition, the week's syllabus
and individual opinions may be viewed on-line and saved
or printed using your web browser.
Statutes
State statutes are
available for viewing from the Office of the Revisor of Statutes. Included are property taxes, gross earnings taxes, and excise and sales taxes.
The Minnesota State
Legislature also provides a searchable database of state statutes using the Infoseek search
engine, which allows searches by key word.
The Minnesota State Constitution is also available for viewing from
the State Legislature's web site.
